God is among us!

God is among us to make sure that we have abundant life in God.

When God is with us, who can destroy us or harm us? When God care for our well-being what or who would dare to shake our happiness? Then why can’t we experience abundant life?

We lose our relationship with God and slip away from the abundant life when we doubt God’s power and question God’s love.

We doubt God’s power by asking “How can God do that?” Today’s bible passage says that Mary was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Then you go, “How can that happen?” Well, if you believe in God’s power to create the whole world by Word, you can easily believe that God can do that. People cannot believe in mystery of God when they limit God to their own abilities. Now, people start to acknowledge that a woman can have a baby without a man with the advancement of medical technologies. If some doctors and scientists can make that happen, is that impossible to our God?

We question God’s love by ignoring the fact that God came to us in flesh and died for us on the Cross. The Israelites could not believe that God was in human flesh, in a baby form in a manger! They expected the Messiah in a more glorious outlook! They could not imagine God on the Cross! They wanted God to overthrow the Roman Empire and make a new kingdom as David did. However, God left heavenly throne to be with us and died on the Cross bearing our sins, paying the debt of our transgressions.

We doubt God’s power because we limit God’s power in our mind. We ignore God’s love because we are trapped by our selfish desires. If we open our eyes and accept the Creator and Savior among us, we can restore our relationship with God and recover our abundant life again here and now.
