Mission opportunities in our church
Last week we had our Mission Committee meeting after the Guatemala Mission Trip. There we discussed all the plans for our church missions. I want to share wonderful missions that our church is doing.
On October 3, on Sunday we are going to participate in the CROP hunger walk. It is a part of the Church World Service mission and a part of the fund will be given to our church mission, Winter Nights. On October 24, we will have a Blanket Sunday and collect and distribute blankets, coats, sleeping bags and other warm items to those in need.
On November 12, we will have Memorial Service for homeless people who died during the past year. Church Women United and Loaves and Fishes and our church will provide lunch after the service. In December, “Friends Outside” and “Arms Around” program will provide two families with gifts and food for Christmas.
Next year, January and July, we will have Family Shelter Week. We will provide a week of meals and supplies to homeless families at Mountain View Shelter. In February, on the first Sunday, we will have “Soup per Bowl” Sunday on “Super Ball” game day. We will collect cans of soup for S.H.A.R.E. However, collection for food for S.H.A.R.E. is going on every month.
Winter Nights will be from February 28 to March 13. We will partner with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to provide homeless families with shelter, meals, tutoring and activities for kids. Then “Friends Outside” back to school project will be in July. We provide children with new clothes and school supplies.
Habitat for Humanity is scheduled for September 22 at the new El Rincon project and 25th at Bay Point. This is a new project and you can find information at the http://eastbay.volunteerhub.com/Event/Summary.aspx?EventID=374360

For on-going project, Meals on Wheels is on every Wednesday. Prepare, deliver, and serve means to Single Homeless Shelter is on 2nd Thursday of each month. Guatemala Mission is every year.
I pray that our church can bear fruits in this way in our town and also in the world. May God bless all the hearts and hands and feet that are used in doing God’s Mission!
