Let us expect the best and the final gift from God!
God has promised us to give an eternal life! God has actually given us eternal life through Jesus, our Lord. When Jesus was raised from the dead, God showed us that death had no more power over us. That is the final gift from God for us.
Before this final gift, God gives us many gifts in our lives. Our sister Frieda also has received many other gifts in her life. She had wonderful parents and 4 siblings. She had the fun memory of growing up in Santa Cruz near beach and ocean.
Frieda also received wonderful children as gifts from God. She cherished her gifts and allowed them to explore their potential talents fully. Actually her sons were exposed to dance, art, and music world, which later became their profession and love. Frieda had also a loving husband as a gift from God. Even though she had to go through divorce once, she met Raymond Quilici and restored her joy and laughter. Together they had 7 children and had fun.
Not only family, but church was a gift from God. When she was here with us, she loved singing with the CUMC choir for years. She also enjoyed the fellowship of Lydia Women’s Circle. She also loved the worship services, especially Christmas Eve Midnight Service. Now she can sing in the heavenly choir and meet other members from the Lydia Circle who moved to heaven first.
There are also other gifts that Frieda enjoyed. Frieda loved needlepoint, cake baking and decorating. She also loved her many animal pets and collected stuffed bears. She also collected hats, teapots and fine crystal figures. Even though she loved those things they were all small gifts from God compared to the final great gift.
She received her final gift on Dec. 22nd 2010. She left her fragile body on that day. As you know, the last five years of her life was a struggle because of her heart condition. Doctors could not fix her heart. However, God had a better idea. God decided to give her new life! The Bible said that the flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. The perishable cannot inherit the imperishable! This mortal body should put on immortality through Jesus, our Lord! Then we can also shout with the apostle Paul,
Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! We have this final victory and final gift in our Lord, Jesus.
You and I will also receive this final gift someday from God. We have received so many small gifts so far but this final gift would be the best gift for all of us. So, my brothers and sisters! Let us be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord because we know that in the Lord, our work is not in vain! Hallellujah!
