Catch Fire Day 31 “What would you see when you die?” Acts 7:54-60
The Bible passage for today says that when Stephen died he was full of the Holy
Spirit and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God (Acts 7:56). I want to see God’s glory and Jesus standing at the right hand of God when I die.
When I was trained in a hospital for my CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education), I met an alcoholic. He welcomed me and we had lot of times together talking about our lives and faith. He regretted what he had done in his life but it was too late for him to fix his body condition. The last day of his life on earth came. I met him in the corridor of the hospital that I served. When he saw me, his eyes grew bigger and bigger. His stomach was blown like a small mound. Then he shouted something that I could not understand. Then he died with his eyes wide open. Did he see some angels? His facial expression was so dramatic and I could not forget his face for a while. I felt that I did something wrong. It troubled me a lot. My supervisor told me that his death had nothing to do with me and I knew it. Still, his last moment was quite terrible for me to watch.
So, I pray that I should die peacefully. I want to forgive everybody before I die. I want to reconcile with everybody before I die. I want to bless even those who are against me with whatever reasons. So, when I die, I want to see God’s glory and Jesus standing by the right hand of God.
