Sermon in a nutshell: Matthew 25:31-46

Matthew 25:31-46                        Are you ready to see the King?

Tonight, we have come to see the King! Like the three wise men, everybody brought gifts to Jesus. Some brought gold, some frankincense, and some myrrh. Those three gifts symbolized what Jesus’ life would mean to us. Gold means that Jesus is the King of kings, who rules over our lives. Frankincense means Jesus is our High Priest, who prays for the restoration of relationship between God and us. Myrrh means that Jesus is the sacrifice to be offered to God for the forgiveness of our sins. Because of Jesus, we have been forgiven and restored to the relationship with God. We have come here with the great hope, faith, and love.

Tonight, however, Jesus also has come to see us. He comes to us with one simple question. What have you done for these people: The hungry, the thirsty, the strangers, the naked, the sick, and the prisoners? Are you ready to see the King? Great!  Let me ask you to stand up when I call you!

All of those who served this year

at the homeless shelter, for the meals on wheels, for Toys for Tots, for Winter Nights, for blanket Sunday, the homebound, the prisoners, the detention center clients, hospital patients, and the lost souls!

Please stand up and listen to what the King says!

“Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”(Matthew 25:34-36)

Your gifts and services are as meaningful as gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Actually, your services are matching gifts to the gifts that Jesus has given to us, the forgiveness of sins, the restoration of relationship with God, and the eternal life! Now we know what would be the question that Jesus would ask to us! We can prepare the right answer for the next year and the years following! When we are doing these ministries faithfully, we are ready to meet the King anytime anywhere. Are you ready to see the King? Yes? If so, please, shout Amen! God bless you! God bless you all!

  1. What are the ministries that you are now currently involved in?
  2. What are the ministries that you want to participate in next year?
