Psalm 23

Psalm 23

How can a sheep be happy?

It is simple. A sheep can follow the shepherd and that is it! The shepherd will take care of all the issues and problems and the sheep can enjoy the green grass and still waters.

The question is this: Do you see yourself as a sheep or not? Sometimes we see ourselves as shepherds and try to work all the things out ourselves. If you are one of those people, read this psalm and see how comfortable the psalmist feels.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.”

What I really need is the relationship with God. With it, I am fine. Without it, I am lost. Even king David knew this and he wanted the relationship with God more than his throne! He is a sheep!
