Psalm 24

Psalm 24

Can we enter the worship place?

First, anyone who confesses God’s Lordship can worship God. The Lordship comes from the fact that God created the whole universe. Because God made it, it belongs to God! The psalmist says, “The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it; for he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers.”

Secondly, the one who acts according to her confession of God’s Lordship can enter the worship place. Once we acknowledge that God is the Creator and Lord of all things, we cannot commit intentional sins. How can we make intentional wrong move when we are aware of the supervising eyes of the Lord? God-fearing people would not even take personal revenge because they believe that God who watches over them also pays attention to the others. The psalmist also gives us the same conclusion:

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their souls to what is false, and do not swear deceitfully. They will receive blessing from the Lord, and vindication from the God of their salvation.”

Those people who believe God’s Creation and Lordship will gather together to worship God. “Such is the company of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.”

When they come together, they sing together responsively, opening the gate of worship place:

Leader: “Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors! that the King of glory may come in.

Congregation: “Who is the King of glory?”

Leader: “The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle.”

Now they take turns.

Congregation: “Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors! that the King of glory may come in.”

Leader: “Who is this King of glory?”

Congregation: “The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory.” Then the door is open and people walk in together singing Hallellujah!

God is the Creator! God is our Lord! We will follow His righteous paths! Amen!
