Psalm 122

Psalm 122

What makes you happy and what makes you sad?

This morning I read a news article about the shipwreck in Korea. Almost 300 people, mostly high school students died. It saddened my heart. I cannot imagine how hard it must be for the parents and beloved ones. Lives of beloved ones are important to all of us. Jerusalem in the psalms symbolizes the lives of the beloved ones. That is why the psalmist was happy to heart the call, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord!’ Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.  Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together. To it the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. “

We believe that there is an ultimate justice that makes all things right. In the meantime, we can pray for the well-being of the beloved ones!

Even when we see corruptions and wrongdoings in our real life, we believe that God will correct them all in God’s time. That is the reason why we still have hope in the current life! God will judge all and all things will come back to their places! However, it will happen only at the end time. What should we do now? We can pray for the well-being of the beloved ones!

“For there the thrones for judgment were set up,  the thrones of the house of David.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you! Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers!’ For the sake of my relatives and friends I will say, ‘Peace be within you.’ For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.”
